Director of English Language Program office visits Qufu Normal University

On the afternoon of April 18, Dr. Dawn M. Rogier, director of the English Language Program Office of the Bureau of education and cultural affairs of Department of State, arrived at Qufu Normal University in Shandong Province, China for a visit. President Zhang Honghai met with Dr. Rogier and held a discussion. The head of the international exchange and Cooperation Office of the University also attended the meeting.

President Zhang Honghai welcomed Dr. Rogier’s visit and briefly introduced the discipline construction, foreign exchange and cooperation of Qufu Normal University.

President Zhang Honghai said that Qufu Normal University has always attached great importance to cooperation with foreign universities and international organizations to enhance the internationalization level of the University. In recent years, the cooperation between Qufu Normal University and the English language program office has achieved fruitful results. It is hoped that both sides can, on the basis of consolidating the traditional cooperation, strive to open up new areas of cooperation and promote win-win cooperation in the cause of both sides.

Dr. Rogier introduced the English language project. She said that since 2014, the office of the English language program of the United States has sent English teachers to Qufu Normal University to engage in teaching work, and has achieved remarkable results. She hopes to take this opportunity to further strengthen cooperation with Qufu Normal University in English language teaching, so as to benefit more students and teachers engaged in English education and promote the development and progress of each other’s education.

Subsequently, Dr. Rogier had a detailed exchange and negotiation with the directors of the international exchange and cooperation office and the school of foreign languages on English language teaching, online language learning, TESOL International Conference and other projects.
